distortion

"Self Portrait 3" by Hamish Ryde

This self portrait explores the same ideas and techniques as my first two paintings. They are all intended to be seen together as a kind of triptych. The distortion of the face is more pronounced in this piece to the point where I do not think the painting really looks like me. This may be because I have enlarged the whole lower half of my face rather than one feature. The fact that the lower half is seen from a viewpoint which is only slightly different to the top half adds to this and makes the image more disturbing.
