Joytown Special School
Joytown Special School for the Physically Handicapped is located in Central province, Thika District. It currently accommodates 277 students of ages from 6 to 20 years.
The school was established in 1961 by Missionaries affiliated to the Salvation Army. Being a government boarding school the teachers, rehabilitation professionals and a nurse are employed by the government. The school is divided into 3 departments: (1) Main Stream Primary School, (2) Early Childhood Department for pre-school children, and (3) Special Class for the Multi- handicapped children with severe learning challenges.
