Our work in Burundi

Funded by Kraft Heinz Foundation, Community Albums has set up a recording studio at Don Bosco Buterere in Bujumbura. A full time in-house producer looks after the studio. We are due to re-visit in Feb 2017 to add more equipment to the studio, and continue training the talented musicians of the Burundian capital.

Our Partners in Burundi

Salesians of Don Bosco is an international religious congregation operating in 132 countries worldwide in the field of youth empowerment. They offer their educational services to the most vulnerable young people in all their centres. In Burundi we're working with the Salesian Centre of Buterere, which offers vocational education and training for young people with a special focus to those who are poor. They prepare them for the world of work by providing vocational and life skills.

We wrote a song together as part of the first week's training

And then recorded it in the new studio... here is part of the song, 'Mpenzi', which talks about 'Hope'. We shot the footage during the week on our phones.
