You Gotta Be

We were asked by Thomas Fairchild Community School (Hackney, East London) to make a film following a fire which destroyed their school in July 2009. It follows a day in the life of the school, 24th Feb 2010, and shows that through adversity, they have found hope, strength and each other.

Shona Ferguson, their head teacher writes this:

On the 30th of July 2009 our school building was destroyed by fire.

Disaster, devastation, distress but hold on – nobody was hurt, nobody lost their home or their family, nobody lost their freedom.
I knew my children and I knew my staff and I had no doubt that we would begin again and that we would be better and we would be stronger.

These films* and these songs are a taste of a happy day in our life – I hope you can feel our joy.

An end or a brand new beginning? I think I know which……

I would like to dedicate this music to a remarkable group of people – the children and staff of Thomas Fairchild Community School; there are miracles when you believe!
